Minarets falls to Orosi

The Mustangs were looking to rebound from a tough loss to West Sequoia League-leading Caruthers. Unfortunately, Minarets had to go on the road to face another strong WSL foe, the Orosi Cardinals.

And the result was another lopsided loss as Orosi defeated Minarets 49-7.

The loss moves Minarets to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the competitive WSL.

The Mustangs are still looking for a Division VI playoff berth this season. Mustang losses have been to playoff-bound programs.

They are ranked No. 6 in D-VI according to MaxPreps.com.

Minarets will look to turn things around this week against the hapless Sierra Chieftains. Game time is 5 pm JV/7 pm Varsity.

The once-proud Chieftain football program has truly fallen on hard times. The Chieftains are 0-8 overall.

Sierra is a member of the North Sequoia League but has opted out of football competition this season to help reset the program.

Sierra is coming off a 1-9 season in 2018.

Minarets defeated Sierra last year by a score of 86-0. That is not a misprint.

The Chieftains have surrendered 303 points this season and have scored only 40. Both are section highs and lows.

Minarets stats and coaches’ comments were unavailable at press time.
