Mountain Area All-Stars

Peyton Garner and Mason Ellis, star athletes soccer and basketball, respectively, have been named to Fresno Bee All-Star teams.

Garner, a sophomore at Yosemite High School, was one of the North Sequoia League’s top scorers and an offensive powerhouse who gained a reputation for her accurate shooting and ability to sustain drives through defending players. She competes for Yosemite’s track team as well.

Garner and 43 other girls soccer players were named to the Bee’s All-Star team, headed by player of the year Peyton Kwalwasser, who led the Clovis East Timberwolves to their first league title in 16 years.

Ellis, a star senior and multi-sport athlete, improved the Minarets basketball team when he returned from the football season and often led in scoring.

He joined 32 other players on the All-Star team, including player of the year Colin Slater from Immanuel High School, whose family was displaced by Hurricane Katrina when he was 6 years old.

With Slater on the team, Immanuel went 55-9 during his high school career.
