The Yosemite High JV basketball team enters North Sequoia League play against Sierra Friday with a 5-4 record.
The team, coached by former YHS standout Charley Medley, lost last week to Sierra Pacific (40-30), and Fresno Christian (48-29), while defeating Tranquility (51-20).
Yosemite managed only three points in the third quarter and were behind 27-20 at the start of the fourth quarter. Tayler Mattyshock had nine points, nine rebounds, and four steals in the game.
The Badgers beat Tranquility in a rout, leading 42-10 at the half. Christian Rold scored 10 points in the game, and Mattyshock added eight points, four rebounds, and two steals. Kinder Alder and Dylan Howard added six each.
The Badger defense shut down the Tigers allowing only five points each quarter.
After a close first half where the Badgers were down 24-17, the Fresno Christian Eagles rose up in the final quarter to defeat YHS 48-29. YHS was outscored 14-4 in the final period.
Leading scorers for YHS were Jaeden Pierce (8), Noah Allen (6), and Mattyshock with six points, and four rebounds.
