Ski school seeks volunteers

The Mountain Area Ski School is searching for instructors to teach skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country/telemark skiing to elementary school students.

All instructors do not need to be an expert to volunteer for the program, but their skills are intended to be better than those of possible students. Instructors will be eligible to earn a free lift ticket to Badger Pass Ski Area, usable a day before they teach, as part of the program.

An orientation meeting is mandated at the Oakhurst Lutheran Church 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, for anyone seeking to become an instructor.

After that, a clinic will be held at Badger Pass Ski Area on Dec. 18, with attendance required so potential instructors can be evaluated.

Students will begin the program Jan. 8 and continue each Friday, with approximately 12 days of instruction.

To be an instructor, one must also commit to at least nine instruction days to cover insurance costs.
