Senior youth team wins 12-8

The Yosemite Badger’s youth Senior team beat the Firebaugh Falcons 12-8 at Firebaugh on Sept. 5, scoring on the last play of the game.

The defense had two fumble recoveries and two interceptions in holding Firebaugh to just one touchdown.

The Badger’s first TD came on a quarterback sneak by Connor Cramer in the second quarter, that tied the game.

It was on the last play of the game that receiver Kevin Cruz caught a 12-yard pass from Cramer for the winning touchdown.

The Junior team improved its record to 2-0 after beating the Falcons.

This Saturday, the Senior team (6 p.m.), along with the Mighty Mite (noon), Pee Wee (2 p.m.), and Junior (4 p.m.) teams, host Chowchilla at Badger Stadium.

Golf tournament Sept. 18

The 4th annual Camarena Classic Charity Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 18 at Dragonfly Golf Club, 43369 Avenue 12, Madera. Registration begins at 11 a.m., and shotgun start at noon. This tournament provides funding for community programs, including student scholarships, Car Seats for Kids, and Reach Out and Read Child Literacy.

Sponsors are being sought to support this event through donations of raffle prizes, goodie bag items, and/or by participating in the tournament.

The fees are $500 for a foursome, and $125 for a single player.

Camarena Health is the largest provider of primary care services in Madera County, serving about 25,000 patients yearly. Last year, the event raised $10,000.
