The 14th Annual Yosemite Spring Fling Basketball Tournament will be held in Oakhurst March 27-29, featuring nearly 30 fifth-grade through high school varsity girl teams from throughout the state.

Sponsored by the Yosemite Youth Basketball Association (YYBA), teams will compete at Yosemite High School and Oak Creek Intermediate in six age divisions. More than 50 basketball games will be played during the three-day tournament.

In addition to teams from the Central Valley, the Bay Area and southern California, Yosemite (Oakhurst) will compete in the 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, JV, and Varsity divisions.

Bernie McGoldrick, a former YHS graduate will coach Yosemite’s 8th grade team. YHS seniors Veronica Miller and Mattaya Brown, along with YHS graduate Ashley Stearns-Lassos will coach the 6th grade team and the high school teams, and James Anderson will coach the 7th grade team.

YYBA president-director Rick Slayton is excited about hosting this year’s tournament.

“Time has flown by — it’s been such a pleasure to watch our young athletes compete over the years and grow into such great adults,” Slayton said.

New this year, will be the Boys Spring Classic Tournament April 17-19. The tournament is expected to draw 40 teams fifth grade through high school varsity.
