Fipps named to all-conference team

UC Davis senior forward Sydnee Fipps was named to the All-Big West Conference First Team for the third consecutive season, while junior Alyson Doherty and freshman Dani Nafekh also earned a spot on the league’s honor roll as the conference office announced the 2014-15 All-Big West teams on Monday morning.

After leading the team in scoring during the regular season at 15.6 points per game, and standing among the top three scorers in the league for most of 2014-15, Fipps became only the second Aggie to earn three first-team all-conference honors in a career, joining Paige Mintun, who did so from 2009-11. The senior from Mariposa, California, is one of only 17 players in the history of the conference to earn at least three first-team awards.

Fipps, who set a school record with 32 games of 20-or-more points in a career, reached double figures in 21 of the team’s 28 contests, and added a pair of double-doubles.

UC Davis opens play at the 2015 Big West Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament on Tuesday (March 10) at 6 p.m. as the No. 5 seed, taking on No. 8 UC Irvine at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton.
