Fresno Pacific University snapped a three-game losing streak with a 53-46 PacWest road win at Notre Dame de Namur (4-20, 2-15 PacWest) in Belmont on Feb. 10. Yosemite High School graduate Jenay Herring had 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals to lead the Sunbirds (5-17, 5-12 PacWest).

For her two-game effort, Herring was named one of four PacWest Co-Players of the Week. She averaged 15.5 points, 5 assists and 3.5 steals per game for the Sunbirds on the week. She had a season-high five steals in the win over Notre Dame de Namur. Herring has recorded a steal in every game this season and leads the PacWest with 2.6 steals per game.

On Feb. 11, Herring scored 17 points in the Sunbirds 80-71 loss to Academy of Art.

The Sunbirds have two more home games before entering the March 5 & 6 PacWest Championship Tournament. The team hosts Dixie State (8-15, 7-10 Pac-West) on Saturday (Feb. 21), and California Baptist (20-4, 13-3 PacWest) on Feb. 26. The team is currently in 11th place in the 13-team PacWest Conference. Hawaii Pacific leads the conference with a 15-2 record.

Badger Pass waiting for snow

In consideration of guest safety, resource protection, and guest experience, Yosemite’s Badger Pass Ski Arera is temporarily closed. This includes the Cross Country ski trails and snowshoe trails.

The road to Badger Pass is blocked at Chinquapin, the turn-off to Badger Pass Road from Highway 41. Operators hope to reopen if or when Badger Pass receives the appropriate amount of snow.
