Three Mustangs named to all league team

Minarets High running Back Bubba Ward, defensive lineman Jake Blankenship, and running back/wide receiver Mason Ellis have been named first team all league by the West Sequoia League’s coaches. Ward and Blankenship are seniors and Ellis is a junior.

The announcement came at the team’s recent awards banquet where Ward was named the team’s Best Offensive Player, and Blankenship was named Best Defensive Player.

The team’s Most Valuable Player award went to Ellis, who lead the team in nearly all categories including touchdowns, rushing yardage, and receiving yardage. Ellis also led the Mustangs in tackles as well as assists, and had eight quarterback sacks during the season.

Senior Grant Hall was awarded the Captain award, and three players received the Coaches Award - Holden Cordle, Christian Low, and Justin Black. The “Mustang Award” went to junior Sam Smith.

Coach Kelly created a new award this year - the Justin Manley Courage Award, which was given to senior Justin Manley. The senior is challenged with limited sight and was an inspiration to all his team mates.

The tri-tip dinner was catered by Paul and Lisa Blankenship.
