Minarets advances to section D-V Championship

The Minarets High School volleyball team (27-3, 10-0 WSL) defeated Fresno Christian (13-12, 5-5) ) in three straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-15) last night to advance to the Central Section D-V championship match. The match will be played at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, at home against Frazier Mountain High School (20-9-2, 7-1) of Lebec.

The Frazier High Falcons are ranked No. 51 in the D-IV state rankings and No. 2 in D-V (behind Minarets) in the Central Section by Maxpreps.com.

The D-V Mustangs are ranked No. 14 in the state and No. 1 in the Central Section by Maxpreps.com.

A Mustang victory would give the team back-to-back section titles.

In a Nov. 12 quarter-finale play-off game, the Mustangs, coached by Karra Zamora, defeated Tranquility (3-15, 1-7) in three straight sets (25-4, 25-10, 25-10).
