The Yosemite High volleyball team defeated Mission Oak three games to two (26-28, 21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-10) Tuesday night to advance in the Central Section Division III volleyball championships.

The Badgers (36-8) are the No. 1 seed and will host No. 4 Dinuba in the Badger Gym on Thursday, Nov. 1 in the semifinals. A win would propel the Badgers to the finals on Saturday, Nov. 3 at College of the Sequoias in Visalia against either sixth-seeded San Joaquin Memorial or No. 7 Madera South.

Mission Oak won the first two games. YHS then won three straight games to win the match. Down 8-5 in the deciding fifth game, Yosemite went on a 7-0 run to close out the comeback. The Badgers have now won 10 straight matches.

The Hawks (13-21-1), the No. 8 seed who defeated YHS in last year’s D-III section final, had been the Badgers’ nemesis the last four years.

The Badgers swept the Woodlake Tigers 3-0 (25-7, 25-11, 25-12) at the Badger Gym in the first round. Woodlake (16-14) was the No. 16 seed.
