The new message of the Democrat Party is scary

Years ago Ronald Reagan was asked why he left the Democrat Party and his response was, “I didn’t leave the Democrat Party, they left me.”

At one time the Republicans were seen as the party of the wealthy and the Democrats were seen as the party of the working man. To be sure, each of the major parties have changed over the years. They both try to reinvent themselves and they both try to deliver messages to potential voters that are positive about themselves and negative about the other party. That is the nature of the beast in the world of politics.

A new type of message is emerging from the Democrat Party and I think that many mainstream Democrats are going to get a bit concerned with that message.

The DNC Chairman, Thomas Perez announced last year that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was the new face of the Democrat Party. She and Bernie Sanders are pushing that party of the working man into a Socialist Party. Free college for all, free medical for all, guaranteed housing for all, guaranteed jobs for all, income equality, abortion on demand, and more regulations. The Democrats haven’t explained how this will be paid for except to tell us that the rich will have to pay more and more. Ocasio-Cortez is promoting a 70-percent tax on the richest amongst us. That gets many on board since most won’t reach that threshold for paying 70 percent. Wait until the Hollywood elites who love the progressive tone of the Democrats realize that they will be paying the 70 percent. They may become Republicans.

Once that 70 percent is set, it takes little for the government to lower the earnings threshold down to the middle-class. Granted, this might take a few years to get that down to the regular working folks but once the tax is set, Washington will enforce it on more and more folks.

The millennials favor the concept of Socialism and yet 70 percent of them don’t understand that it doesn’t work except at the point of a gun aim toward you. As an example: Imagine a local realtor who earns commissions when he/she sells a piece of real estate. Should this real estate agent be forced to share their commissions with the agents who haven’t sold the volume of properties. I don’t think so, but some in the Democrat Party may be leaning that way.

Ocasio-Cortez thinks that the illegal immigrants are better behaved than most Americans. She wants open borders and wants to give away many goodies to those who sneak across the borders. She doesn’t explain how to pay the enormous costs and neither does Bernie. Nancy Pelosi must be going nuts to think that her party members are pushing the party so far to the left.

Many wonder why conservatives are so concerned about AO-C and scoff that we pay so much attention to her. After all, she only garnered 12,000 votes in a liberal community and she should be of little consequence. However, when the DNC chair and the DNC leadership tout her as the new face of their party, it is scary. I know too many Democrats who have worked hard, done well, and followed the rules as they have earned their way only to see the party they have believed in pushed into a new direction that isn’t reflective of their core values.

The Republicans have Trump and the Democrats have Socialists and the rest of us have to deal with it.
