As Election Day draws nearer many are being encouraged to vote early and with that in mind I am making my recommendations or endorsements earlier than usual in the hopes that I may get you to think about the candidates and propositions before casting your ballot.
This week I would like you to consider three issues. One regards the Repeal of the Gasoline Tax (Prop. 6) and the other two deal with the reelection of two very solid conservative, great legislators, Assemblyman Frank Bigelow and Congressman Tom McClintock.
I have discussed Proposition 6 at great length with some Madera County supervisors as well as other elected officials in Madera and Mariposa counties. I really do understand that they are delighted with the huge cash influx for the repair of the roads and highways that this tax on gasoline provides. I hear people tell me that it is only 12 cents on the gallon. What I like are the road improvements that we are seeing. I, however, always thought that the taxes on gasoline were always supposed to cover the repairs and construction of roads and highways. It seems that those dollars were siphoned to other social programs. What I don’t like about the gasoline tax is two-fold. First; it wasn’t passed by the voters but rammed down our throats by the Democrats in the Legislature and then signed by Governor Moonbeam. What they lied about was the costs per gallon. From what I understand in the next few years the tax on gasoline in California will skyrocket with more than $2 per gallon going to the state. The people scream about the greedy oil companies who profit about 2 cents per gallon. Talk about highway robbery! We need to let Sacramento know that we don’t like the way they passed this crushing tax. Vote YES!
I am endorsing Frank Bigelow once again for re-election. He is local, hard-working, honest, approachable, and understands what we need in our part of the state and then he champions our causes. That record screams out to justify keeping Frank Bigelow in the Assembly.
Congress needs more folks like Tom McClintock. We can’t elect more than one so we need to ensure that we keep sending our Tom McClintock back to Washington to represent us. If we were to elect his opponent we would be helping to put Queen Nancy back in the Speaker’s Chair, we would be telling the Congress that we want higher taxes, more regulations, no borders and more socialism. If Republicans fail to hold the House and Senate the president will be impeached and this nation goes into lockdown. If you want to send the carpetbagger from Colorado to Washington instead of Tom then be prepared to watch the economy tank, taxes increase, liberal justices appointed to the courts, illegal trespassers getting freebies and the Right to Vote, free medical to everyone that you get to fund, and more giveaways.
Tom McClintock has been a voice of conservative reason, honesty, integrity, and a supporter of smaller government. Read the Constitution and see that the Founding Fathers feared a large, bloated federal government.
We must support the president whether we like him as a person or not. Lowest unemployment in decades for blacks, Hispanics and all other groups. Dow Jones is surging. We are respected by our enemies and more trusted by our allies in the world and we have dumped 22 regulations for every new one created. America is getting greater each day. He needs Tom.
Remember, yes on 6 and re-elect Bigelow and McClintock.
