Can we talk?

Cancer can kill. It doesn’t always kill, some remedies kill cancer. There are many forms of cancer such as melanoma, lymphoma, carcinoma, or leukemia, and if left unchecked they will kill. Early detection often provides enough time to reverse the deadly assault.

There is a very deadly cancer growing on the Constitution of the United States of America. Our Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for the redress of grievances.”

Our rights as Americans are under very specific and deadly philosophical attacks as deadly as cancer. The name for this deadly cancer is called “political correctness.”

Political Correctness, or “PC,” is in charge of our nation. It is the law du jour by which federal, state and local governments operate. It also dictates the decisions being made in our courts, even to the highest court of our nation.

If anyone can remember, there was a recent mass murder of 12 people at the office of Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical magazine in Paris. It seems to have been forgotten with the more recent deflation of NFL footballs. Breaking news du jour.

In the aftermath of the Paris attack one journalist was heard to quote Voltaire, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it,” and our national press analyzed to death the right to defame a religious prophet.

We really do have a short national memory. It wasn’t that long ago our national press led the charge to economically lynch Donald Sterling, owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, for an unsavory comment he made in private. Did you get that? His comment was made in private.

I believe PC cancer started decades ago. In order to right perceived wrongs the PC speech police started by eliminating the “N word,” from social discourse. In time, people lost their jobs and the word was “revised” in classic literature by the likes of Mark Twain and many film and television productions.

I recall no “racists” thoughts while reading Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer as a child. The original film, Blazing Saddles is still hilarious. What I have experienced since the PC speech and press cancer took hold is major ill will toward those who have infected our Constitution with this cancer. In fact, this form of constitutional cancer is spreading throughout our government. Who is defending to the death our right to free speech? Not our government.

Recently, our U.S. Supreme Court declined to decide whether Americans have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness over the rights of the delta smelt. First of all, what happened to the right “to petition the government for a redress of grievances?” Judge Jay Bybee stated, “The law prohibits us from making such fine utilitarian calculations to balance the smelt’s interests against the interests of the citizens of California.”

“The law,” he said. We have seen for many decades how the creation of new, anti-constitutional “law” now overrides our U.S. Constitution. Our U.S. Supreme court is in the advanced stages of fatal PC cancer.

The California Supreme Court unanimously agreed that California state judges cannot support the Boy Scouts. The article by the Bee news services, says this is an effort to “pressure the Boy Scouts to change their policy.” What happened to “no law respecting an establishment of religion, or the prohibiting of the free exercise thereof?” The California Supreme Court is in the advanced stages of fatal PC cancer.

Sometimes the redefinition of our words can be as fatal as prescribing the wrong medical procedure or medication. The man chosen to lead our nation continues to show signs of fatal PC brain cancer. When an Islamic terrorist shouted “Allah akbar” and murdered 13 Americans in 2009, our president labeled it “workplace violence.” This mental PC cancer is fatal to our nation. When he traded five terrorist commanders for one U.S. Army deserter he plainly aided and abetted our enemy, an act of treason.

The problem ‘We the People’ face is the fact that those we have elected to represents us have a major case of PC courage and fortitude cancer.

Will no one defend our Constitution? It’s up to us. Our government only allows us the choice of chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. The other choice is to attend the funeral.
