Robert Bruce Austin died June 1, 2016, at the age of 93. He was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Joseph and Della.
An Oakhurst resident for 29 years, Mr. Austin served in WWII as a B-24 pilot, and later worked as a systems analyst. He enjoyed operating ham radios and gifting repaired computers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Jean Ellen Austin Neenos.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sylvia; sons Randal and wife Dara of Shingle Springs, and Raymond and wife Linda of Castaic; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 9:30 a.m., June 24, at Palm Memorial Sierra Chapel. Graveside services will be held the same day, at 2:30 p.m., at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Road, Santa Nella.
