Madeleine (Madge) Louis Worthen died April 20, 2016 at the age of 99. She was born June 24, 1916 in Montreal, Que. Canada.
She served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII, and was the first French Canadian woman to be accepted to the women’s division in 1941. She worked as a social worker for the Province of Ontario, Canada before retiring.
A Coarsegold resident for 25 years, Mrs. Worthen was a member of the Grandmothers Club in Coarsegold, and the British Club. She was a gourmet cook, and enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise Nemeth and husband David of Coarsegold; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., May 21, at the Little Church on the Hill. Her ashes will be buried in Canada at a later date.
