Ante Toni Tomazin died Dec. 7, 2015 the age of 89. He was born Feb. 14, 1926 in Tribunj in former Yugoslavia to Tome and Matije.
He served in the U.S. Navy, earning his U.S. citizenship. For six years, he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad, dispatching trains in the Shasta Division. In 1958, he worked with what would become VanGas, relocating to Oakhurst 10 years later, when he became the area manager for the company. He retired from Suburban Propane Company in 1988, and was a life-long member of Lions Club International, and a member of the Oakhurst Elks Lodge.
Mr. Tomazin enjoyed traveling, camping with family, and ocean deep-sea fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen; his sons, Mark and spouse Chris; Michael and spouse Janet Trosper; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Maria Cordle; brother-in-law David Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Per his request, his ashes will be scattered at sea. Donations can be made in his name to the Western Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 362, Fresno, Calif., 93708.
