Kirby Edward Cairns died Oct. 28, 2015 at the age of 56. He was born in San Francisco, May 18, 1959, to Ed and Pat.
Mr. Cairns worked as a truck driver and delivery man for 10 years before moving to the Central Valley in 1992 to work with at-risk teens at Valley Teen Ranch. The Cairns relocated to North Fork in 1996. In 2000, Mr. Cairns and his wife, Becky, started and owned Pak and Page in Oakhurst until 2005, when he returned to Valley Teen Ranch.
He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping with his children, as well as playing the acoustic guitar. He was an avid reader of the Bible, history and theology books.
Mr. Cairns is survived by his wife of 30 years; his children, Lucas and spouse Kelly of Milford, Ohio, Andrew of North Fork, and Breanna of North Fork; mother, Patricia Cairns-Carlisle and her husband, Jim; brother Peter and sister Robin.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Nov. 1, at Sierra Pines Church.
