Dale Dewey Miller died July 20, 2015 at the age of 78. He was born April 14, 1937 in Ventura, to Dewey and Hazel.
Mr. Miller graduated from Pasadena City College in 1957, worked with the U.S. Forest Service, and in 1960 began working for the Ventura County Fire Department. In 1965, he was promoted to captain, and in 1975, to battalion chief.
He retired in 1992, relocating with his wife, Barbara, to Ahwahnee, and kept busy volunteering. Mr. Miller enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, traveling, family, friends, fellowships, and all social gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and his granddaughter Kaitlin Taylor. He is survived by children, Mark and wife Debbie of Yucaipa, Doug and wife Julie of Thousand Oaks, Kelly Taylor and husband Clint of Syracuse, Utah, Christine Fisher and husband Hugh, Holli Finley and husband Dan, and Rob Martin and wife Fay - all of Simi Valley; and 14 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Aug. 8, at Mountain Christian Center. A reception will immediately follow at the Oakhurst Community Center Pavillion Room.
A second memorial service will be held in Simi Valley, 11 a.m., Aug. 22, at St. Francis of Assisi Church; a reception will immediately follow.
