Cherry Kathleen Yarbrough died Jan. 24, 2015 at the age of 89. A North Fork resident for more than 30 years, she was born April 21, 1925 in Victorville to Benjamin Brewer and Mildred Freeman.
Mrs. Yarbrough worked for the California Youth Authority in Oxnard, the Department of Agriculture in Sacramento, and as a Bank of America teller and check punch operator back to the 1940s. She was a Cub Scout den mother, and belonged to the PTA and NCO Wives, and was affiliated with Elderhostel, Valley Memorial Society, and the Salvation Army. She was also a member of the Grey Ladies.
She enjoyed fellowship and singing in her church, teaching junior high Sunday school, opera, sewing, needle point, crocheting, traveling, and cooking.
Mrs. Yarbrough is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Todd; her parents; and her foster parents, William and Myrtle Turner.
She is survived by sons, Thomas Todd of Sacramento, and William Todd of North Fork; daughter, Patricia McCutcheon, and daughter-in-law Cheryl Peterson Rau of Arcata; grandchildren, Joshua Kieselhorst, and Coren and Carl Rau.
A brief informal memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 20, at her home (54576 Pinchot Drive, North Fork).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances honoring her life may be made to the New United Methodist Church, 49223 Road 426, Oakhurst, 93644.
