Harold O. Tackett died Feb. 23, 2015 at the age 81. He was born Feb. 16, 1934 to Herman and Edith Tackett, in Vian, Okla.
A Mountain Area resident for 36 years, he was an educator, counselor, school psychologist, and director of Special Education and Special Services for Mariposa County Schools. He attended California State University, Fresno, and received an honorary doctorate from EPOCH University. Mr. Tackett served in the U.S. Air Force
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister, Geneva Edgmon.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta; his siblings, Sue Crussen and spouse Jack of Yukon, Okla, and Howard Tackett and spouse Judy of Broken Arrow, Okla; his sons, Jeff and wife Susan of Hanford, and Patrick of Fresno; daughter, Tamara Dent and spouse Galin of Ahwahnee; grandchildren Shenna Hadzikimov, Johnathon Price, Tara Clark, T.J. and Derek Tackett, Desmond and Adele Dent, and Ben Barlow; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 4-8 p.m., at Sierra Chapel in Oakhurst. Burial will take place 10 a.m., March 7, at Oakhill Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life will take place 11 a.m., following the burial, at the United Methodist Church.
