Gary Jay DeGraw died Jan. 18, 2015 at the age of 91.
Mr. DeGraw was born Feb. 13, 1923 to George and Leslie DeGraw.
He grew up in the Fresno area and graduated from Clovis High in 1941. Mr. DeGraw was drafted into the Marine Corp in 1944 and served as a radio operator on the Islands of Iwo Jima and Guam in the Pacific. He was discharged in 1946.
Mr. DeGraw work for the Pacific Telephone Company for 36 years and retired as manager in the King City-Salinas area.
He spent his retirement between his home in Bass Lake and his “French Ranch,” caretaking his cousin Glenn Record’s cattle ranch in Paso Creek near Bakersfield.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; his second wife, Ruth; and his step-daughter Barbara Smith.
Mr. DeGraw is survived by his sons, Daryl and Rex; step-daughter Gae Reck; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private funeral will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
