Yosemite Unified to offer before- and after-school child care at three locations

Before- and after-school child care programs are planned for Yosemite Unified School District sites at Coarsegold and Rivergold Elementary Schools and adjacent to Yosemite High School.

The child-care programs will be for enrolled students and employees’ children beginning this fall.

A survey is posted on the YUSD website at www.yosemiteusd.com and hard copies of the survey are also available at each school office. The results of the survey will drive the size and availability of each program. Surveys are to be completed and returned to the nearest school office by Friday, Aug. 31.

“The intent is to provide a very cost effective service to parents and staff and an enriching experience for kids in YUSD care,” said Mike Berg, interim YUSD superintendent.

The program hours will be from 6:30 a.m. before school (in time for families to drop off their children before leaving for work or appointments) and after school from the ending bell to 6:30 p.m.

This monthly fee-based service will be offered at cost by the district on a pre-pay basis. The monthly fee schedule will be $428 per month per child ($3.50 per hour) for before- and after-school care and $214 per month per child for child care only after school.

A daily rate option may be offered if monthly contracts are not sufficient to fill the program and if space allows.

Additional information may be found on the district webpage; from Raylene Trent, executive secretary to the superintendent at rtrent@yosemiteusd.org; or by calling the district office at 559-683-8801 ext. 1348.
