From the week of July 17 - July 24, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office responded to 82 reported incidents, with several throughout the Mountain Area focused on vandalism and theft. Below is a summary of some of those reports.
☆ July 17: A mailbox cluster at the corner of Sierra Lakes Drive and Crane Valley Road (426) was vandalized.
☆ July 18: Items were reportedly stolen from a vehicle located at the Burger King in Oakhurst.
☆ July 19: Shortly before 3 a.m., a deputy on routine patrol noticed a vehicle pull into the parking lot of a church. Upon contacting the man, who did not have his driver’s license, advised the deputy he was on parole, and had a no bail warrant for his arrest, the man was placed into custody. While searching his vehicle, the deputy located a white crystal substance, suspected as methamphetamine. The man was transported and booked into Madera County Jail.
☆ July 19: Deputies served a search warrant at a location on Old Yosemite Road and eradicated 183 marijuana plants.
☆ July 19: While checking property in the 42000 block of Road 222 for an ongoing trespassing issue, a victim said he walked his land and hadn’t seen signs of a transient camp.
☆ July 20: Unlawful recordings were reported by a person at the sheriff’s substation.
☆ July 20: While investigating a suspicious activity call in the 49000 block of School Road (427), an allegedly uncooperative person approached deputies and ignored requests and demands to stay away from the area. The person resisted attempts, but was eventually taken into custody.
☆ July 22: A man riding a bicycle in the 40000 block of Highway 41 was detained and turned over to Yosemite National Park for violation of a no bail warrant. He was found in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.
☆ July 24: A robbery was reported in the 50800 block of Road 632.
☆ July 17: A vehicle stripped of parts was found in the 43000 block of Road 415.
☆ July 17: Credit cards were reportedly taken from a locked vehicle in the Coarsegold area.
☆ July 18: Vandalism was reported in the 28000 block of Flying O Ranch, when an unknown suspect slammed a vehicle through a gate and caused major damage.
☆ July 19: Deputies investigated a potential burglary in the 47000 block of Modoc Road. It was discovered a window screen was damaged, but not removed from a window.
☆ July 19: Property theft was reported in the 41000 block of Roaring River Court.
☆ July 19: A customer at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino was found to have committed theft at the business, along with several other crimes.
☆ July 21: Fraud reported in the 43000 block of Trabucco Road.
☆ July 22: Vehicle burglary reported in the 46000 block of Paloma Drive.
☆ July 23: Public health evaluation performed in the 36000 block of Wells Road.
☆ July 24: A man who had been drinking alcohol and causing a disturbance in the 46000 block of Road 417 was arrested for criminal threats and elder abuse.
☆ July 17: A victim said someone possibly tampered with lug nuts on his vehicle.
☆ July 18: Family disturbance reported in the 36000 block of Teaford Poyah.
☆ July 23: During a traffic enforcement stop, the driver was cited on a no bail arrest warrant issued by the federal government.
☆ July 23: During a routine vehicle stop near roads 222 and 226, a driver was cited for an outstanding warrant and their vehicle was stored.
☆ July 22: A boating accident was reported with injuries.
☆ July 24: After a citizen turned over a found wallet at Hensley Lake, the owner was cited and released on a misdemeanor warrant.
☆ July 24: A male customer at a store in the 32000 block of Road 600 put items down his pants, then shoved a store clerk and left. He was arrested and charges were filed.
