At about 1:05 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015 deputies were dispatched to the area of Highway 145 and Road 36 1/2 in regards to reports of a woman with her throat cut.
Upon arrival deputies found the victim, 23-year-old, Ana Barboza, had suffered a laceration to her throat area. Witnesses told deputies that they were driving by and noticed two women fighting and one woman was covered in blood.
Deputies learned that 29-year-old Elica Xiomara Suderman and Barboza, who are friends, went to Fresno Saturday night to go dancing. On the way back to Madera, Suderman started to argue with Barboza when Suderman allegedly produced a knife and cut Barboza’s throat.
Barboza was airlifted to a Fresno area hospital where she underwent surgery for her injuries.
Suderman was taken into custody at the location and later booked into Madera County Department of Corrections for attempted murder. Her bail was set at $100,000.
