The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office is offering mountain area residents the opportunity to dispose of their unwanted prescription medication this weekend.
On Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the sheriff’s office and the Drug Enforcement Administration will be set up at several locations throughout the town providing free and anonymous disposal of prescription drugs.
The service will be offered at three locations: The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office located at 4963 10th Street, the North County Sheriff Sub-Station located at 9729 Merced Falls Road in the Lake Don Pedro Sub-Division and the Sheriff Sub-Station located at 10549 Fiske Road in Greeley Hill.
“This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse,” read the news release.
