Two people, including a juvenile, died in a two-vehicle head-on collision in Madera County on Saturday.
Neither of the victims’ identities has been released.
According to CHP Sgt. Lincoln McKenna, the collision occurred around 4:25 p.m. on Avenue 12 just East of Road 34 1/2. An Audi sedan was traveling east on Avenue 12 for an unknown reason crossed onto the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a Toyota 4-Runner.
Both vehicles were traveling at a speed of 55 mph to 60 mph, McKenna said.
The driver of the Audi was a solo occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The juvenile was a passenger in the Toyota and was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Toyota carried a total of five occupants including the juvenile. The driver and one other juvenile passenger were airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. The two other passengers were transported by ambulance to the hospital.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
This case remains under investigation.
