Oakhurst Democratic Club meeting

Dr. Andrew Fiala, expert on ethics and political philosophy, will speak on “Civic Education and American Democracy” at the next meeting of the Oakhurst Democratic Club on Saturday, February 2, at the Oakhurst Grill, 40530 Highway 41.

Fiala is a philosophy professor and Director of the Ethics Center at Fresno State. He is the author or editor of more than a dozen books and more than 50 scholarly articles, and has published hundreds of op-ed essays and newspaper columns.

The public is welcomed to attend the club meeting.

The program is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m., but there will also be a buffet breakfast available starting at 8:30 a.m. for $8 a person.

February Women in Business luncheon

The Oakhurst Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its monthly Women in Business luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Yosemite Gateway Association of Realtors, 40298 Junction Dr # B.

Tammy VanRossen of SkinLogix, a local skin and body care treatment center, will be the featured speaker for the event.

The luncheon is priced at $15 for chamber members and $20 for non-members.

The luncheon is scheduled to run from noon to 1 p.m., with doors opening 15 minutes early for networking opportunities.

Plazuelas Mexican Restaurant will be catering the event, with vegan and vegetarian options available.

Adventist Health welcomes pediatric nurse practitioner

Adventist Health has brought on mountain community resident Carol Cramer as its certified pediatric nurse practitioner – primary care (C.P.N.P.-P.C.) to its medical office in Oakhurst, 48677 Victoria Ln.

Specializing in general pediatrics, Cramer brings more than 27 years of experience as a pediatric nurse practitioner to her practice. She provides care for children and adolescents, including; well-child exams, newborn care, breastfeeding support, general illness care, preventive medicine and positive parenting support.

Cramer graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education, and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Fresno State.

Cramer is accepting new patients at Adventist Health Medical Office and can be reached via phone at 559-683-2711.
