January HOW Dinner

January’s Helping One Woman dinner will take place in Oakhurst on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at Plazuelas Mexican Restaurant, 40015 Highway 49, with the proceeds going to Tina Sexton.

Sexton is the general manager of the Taco Bell in Oakhurst and has been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis with autoantibodies to muscle-specific tyrosine kinase (MuSK). The rare illness rapidly attacks the respiratory system and has forced Sexton into six visits to the intensive care unit, seven surgeries, chemotherapy and more extensive treatment.

Two of her six children have worked to raise awareness of the disease and raise money for their mother.

The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and will feature silent auctions and prize drawings, with all proceeds going to Wynn at the end of the night.

Donations in the form of checks, cash or gift items for the dinner can be dropped off at Tokens, 40410 Highway 41, in Oakhurst Monday through Saturday. Gift items can also be dropped off Tuesday through Saturday at Mint Condition, 40315 Junction Dr., in Oakhurst.
