Daniel Lyons died in his Coarsegold home Nov. 20 due to complications with pancreatic cancer.
He was 68.
Lyons moved to Coarsegold in 2010 and began working as a Realtor for Century 21 Ditton Realty. He earned a number of professional accomplishments during his time there, including the Century 21 Ruby Award as well as the Century 21 Quality Service Award.
His hobbies included bird watching from his large window in his dining room overlooking the Sierra, reading, listening to music, gardening and puzzles.
Lyons served in Vietnam as a scout dog handler as a member of the Army Fourth Infantry Division from September 1969 to September 1970 and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and Combat Infantry Badge.
He is survived by his wife Vickie Lyons, stepson Jake O’Neill, daughter Dawn Christine Jessing, son Kyle Spencer Lyons, the mother of his children Lynda Lyons, grandchildren Jack Jessing, Grayson Jessing and Sienna Lyons and siblings Nancy Williams, Janet Stone, Margie Anderson, Cindy Allen and Dexter Lyons.
Dignity Memorial says a Celebration of Life will be held at Yosemite Lakes Park Clubhouse on Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. The family will be wearing patriotic colors to honor Lyons and welcome attendees to do the same.
