Celebration of military veterans set for Monday in Oakhurst

In what has become a Veterans Day tradition in the mountain community, residents will come together for a special service at Oakhurst’s Little Church on the Hill to honor the sacrifices of all who have served in the United States armed forces.

The service begins at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12 and will be led by the Rev. David Sebastian, pastor emeritus of Oakhurst Lutheran Church. The service will feature patriotic hymns, a short message, prayers and readings.

“We invite people to come and join us to say thanks to our veterans,” Sebastian said. Veterans have given a minimum of two years of their life. We need to be thanking those that have served our country.”

This is Sebastian’s 20th year organizing the Veterans Day service.

Veterans Day lands on Sunday, Nov. 11 this year, but will be observed the next day.

For more information or any questions on the service, call Sebastian at 559-641-2477.
