The 31st annual Smokey Bear Run/Walk brought adults and children to Bass Lake’s Recreation Point on the morning of Sept. 22 to exercise in support of fire prevention.

Turner Williams, of North Fork, won first place in the two-mile run. J.K. Lundberg, of Fresno, took home first in the 10K run. Three children’s races and a two-mile walk made up the rest of the day’s events.

More than 300 people participated in the event. All of the proceeds went to Cal Fire and the United States Forest Service fire prevention programs and Madera County Sheriff’s Office volunteer programs.
