Oakhurst motorcyclist suffers major injuries in crash in front of Tenaya Lodge

An Oakhurst motorcyclist suffered major injuries Sunday after being hit by a car on Highway 41 near the Tenaya Lodge, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to a CHP news release issued Monday morning, Larry Hale, 63, was riding his 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Highway 41 just after 11 a.m. when Charity Caverly, 66, attempted to merge her 2018 Toyota onto the highway from the Tenaya Lodge driveway. The CHP said Caverly assumed that traffic was clear, but drove into Hale’s path.

Hale swerved to try and avoid colliding with the vehicle, but it was too late. The crash left Hale with major injuries and he was taken to the Community Medical Regional Center. Caverly did not suffer any injuries.

The CHP is investigating the collision.
