Minarets High School and the Chawanakee Unified School district have completed stage one of the Athletic Center/ Stadium project.
The new field and track are finished as well as goal posts and perimeter curbing. In the coming months additional development will take place in order to be ready to play sports on the grass for the 2018-2019 school year. Track and Field has already made use of the new facilities.
The Chawanakee Unified and Minarets community is excited to begin phase 2 of the project which will include seating, scoreboard, and amenities. Phase 3 will include lighting and continued development of the mezzanine/entrance area.
Minarets is making a push to make the long time dream of the stadium completion a reality, and is reaching out to the Mountain and Foothill communities for community and corporate support.
Build It Together Luau
At 6:30 p.m. on May 11, Minarets High School will host the Build it Together Luau to rally the community together in a stadium fundraising event.
The Luau will feature authentic Hawaiian food, entertainment, and service from the Polynesian Culture Club.
There will be a silent auction and an update on the school’s efforts to build opportunities for students as well as a Stadium Club membership drive.
“We are building for the present and the future as this project will serve high school and youth programs in soccer, football, music, cheer, track and field, cross country, equestrian, media arts, and more,” said school Principal Dr. Daniel Ching. “"We are making history together by combining community support into an effort that will make waves for generations to come. What an exciting time to be a part of this community. I am already overwhelmed by the support we have seen."
