For the first time in history, the Madera County Board of Supervisors will hold their regular April 3 meeting at 10 a.m. at the Oakhurst Community Center.
According to District 5 Supervisor and Board Chairman, Tom Wheeler, making arrangements to hold a meetings outside board chambers in Madera was something he has been wanting to do for a long time.
Besides regular business, the meeting will also provide time for presentations from a variety of county department including public works, planning and county clerk/recorder.
“For quite a few years I’ve thought it would be a good idea for the board of supervisors to meet in communities so people can see how county government works,” Wheeler said. “We changed the county ordinance to make it possible to have these meeting away from the Madera Government Center and in outlying communities. I hope a lot of people come out to this first time board meeting in Oakhurst.”
Wheeler said if there is a good turn-out on April 3, the board will consider having another meeting in Oakhurst later in the year.
Board meetings will also be held at 4 p.m. in Chowchilla on April 17, and at 6 p.m.in Madera Ranchos on May 1.
