After closure on November 26, 2017, the Bass Lake Ranger District announced today, Minarets Road’s construction is complete and it will re-open tomorrow, Feb. 16.
Due to significant damage from the winter storms of 2017 the road was closed and construction began. The project consisted of two damaged sites at mile post 8.3 and 10.0.
Sierra National Forest engineers were awarded a contract to repair the damage and with the road repaired it will now lessen the chance of further increased damage occurring.
There are still a number of locations that have been identified in need of repair along Minarets (4S81) road. Forest engineers are currently working on the repair design, and securing the funds for the construction projects.
This is the first of many projects to come, to repair and improve forest roads.
