It’ s right around the corner - that special day that’s dedicated to love and romance. Forget the box of chocolates - why not give a truly memorable experience of a comedy murder mystery dinner being held the weekend after Valentine’s Day at The Golden Chain Theatre with a cast of characters sure to keep audience members guessing?
During the short but wildly entertaining run of Killing Mr. Withers, guests will be called upon to help discover who is responsible for the mysterious deaths that have been piling up.
The year is 1959 and you are in the heart of Death Valley, on the Nevada side, miles away from anything even remotely resembling civilization. Your bus has broken down and besides the blowing sand and dry heat, the desert this evening offers intrigue and murder.
“As the only witnesses, you will be asked for information by the police and even get a chance to ask your own questions of the suspects as you try to deduce “whodunnit,” said Jennifer Janine, who is co-directing the show with George Rich.
Audience members find themselves having to pass the time at The Last Chance Pump and Grill, where some unsavory characters await them played by Michael and Ruthann VanBuren, Sarah Persson, Leonard Brown, Anthony Ruiz, Ginger Grace and Lyric Gianni.
“Beware and feel free to dress for the era, as some especially fortunate audience members may be chosen to join the cast for an impromptu appearance in the show,” Rich said. “Be prepared for blank gunshots that will be fired during this performance.”
Killing Mr. Withers runs three nights only, and recent shows at GCT have sold out, so early reservations are recommended. Tickets can not be purchased after Feb. 10.
“Don’t miss this fun and exciting show with a delicious home-style meal catered by The Wild Fig of Coarsegold and the chance to figure out who the murderer is,” Janine said.
Killing Mr. Withers is being held Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, Feb. 16, 17 and 18. Doors open at 6 p.m. for cocktails and preshow festivities.
