A limited number of day parking reservations are still available in Yosemite National Park this August, park officials said in a release on Monday.

Reservations are free, with a $1.50 service fee per reservation, and can be booked online at www.recreation.gov or by phone at 1-877-444-6777. There are 150 parking spaces available in the newly designed Yosemite Falls Parking Area, located west of Yosemite Valley Lodge and south of Camp 4.

This is the second year Yosemite is testing a pilot parking reservation program.

Visitors who make a reservation, which is good for one day only, will be guaranteed a parking space from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for vehicles up to 20 feet in length. RVs and trailers currently cannot be accepted, park officials said.

Anyone planning an August trip is strongly encouraged to book a reservation to ensure a smooth experience.

Yosemite National Park welcomes some 5 million people every year, generating a cumulative economic benefit to the surrounding area, like Oakhurst, of nearly $687 million while supporting more than 7,850 jobs.
