Oakhurst man missing after rafting trip in Yosemite National Park

A man from Oakhurst went missing during a large group rafting trip down the Merced River in Yosemite National Park on Monday, and has yet to be found, park officials said.

The man became separated from his party during an annual rafting trip, with about 50 participants, when his raft deflated, officials said. He was not wearing a life vest and went missing in the river, and was last seen in the Sentinel Beach area after 5 p.m. Monday.

Park rangers, along with members of the Mariposa and Madera County Search & Rescue Teams have been searching for the man since Monday night to no effect, and the search continues Wednesday.

The man’s name has not been released by park officials. Multiple members of Monday’s rafting trip indicate it was a man named Ernie Hager who went missing.
