70th Annual Chowchilla Fair opens

“Country Nights and Carnival Lights” is the theme for the 2016 Chowchilla Fair which opened today.

The excitement runs through Sunday, and includes bull riding, mutton busting, pro wrestling, kart racing, barrel racing, and a variety of entertainment.

Friday’s grandstand event will be Sanders Motorsports Kart Racing.

Saturday night brings the highly modified trucks and tractors duel it out dragging a 40,000-pound Terminator sled down a 300 foot long track in hopes of earning a “full pull.”

Back again this year will be the Best Beard Competition at 2 p.m. Saturday on the main stage.

On Sunday, Vendetta Pro Wrestling returns to the fair with a tag team main event match up featuring Vendetta Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Socal Crazy teaming with Mini Superstar Felinito vs Former WWE superstar Ricardo Rodriguez with mini superstar Pequeno Halloween plus the vendetta Vixens.

Following the wrestling, Los Freddy’s, a popular Mexican ensemble will sing all-time favorites and original romantic ballads.

Daily entertainment includes hypnotist Michael Mezmer, Magician Frank Thurston, Circus Imagination, and new this year Pirate Jack Spareribs and Firestryker.

Fair tickets are $8 for ages 13 - 61, $5 for seniors (62 and older), $5 for children ages 6-12, and children five and under are free.

On Friday from noon - 4 p.m., and Sunday, 3 - 6 p.m., receive free admission with the donation of three canned food items.

Kid’s day is Friday - children ages 12 and under receive free admission until 5pm. Parking is free all four days of Fair.
