Offering up a true reproduction of real life teen drama with all its emotional highs and lows, Yosemite High School’s theater department’s production of “High School Musical” had it’s share of rivalry, jealousy, love, betrayal, humor, and plenty of upbeat music.
Under the direction of YHS theater arts teacher Lars Thorson, the plot swirls around Troy Bolton, the basketball star played by Alex Williams, and brainiac Gabriella Montez, played by Gianna DeFelice, and their struggles to get out of their comfort zone while auditioning for East High School’s play.
DeFelice’s rendition of “When There was Me and You,” was the musical highlight of the show.
Kelly Ravel was flawless as drama teacher Mrs. Darbus, as was Mackenzie Behrens as the leader of the brainiacs.
Other performances worthy of note included Elise Keeler (Sharpay Evans), Kevin Kirk (Ryan Evans), Dylan Thacker (Chad Danforth), and Jessica Fine (Kelsi Neilson).
By the way, if you haven’t had your fill of “High School Musical” yet, Disney is currently holding open casting calls for “High School Musical 4.”
