Kids across the Mountain Area will be able to enjoy time with “Ranger Baldy,” a 6-foot-tall bald eagle and critically acclaimed author, at Branches Books & Gifts in Oakhurst on Earth Day, April 22.
Ranger Baldy, who authored “Ranger Baldy and the Disappearing Waterfall: A Yosemite National Park Adventure,” will read stories from his book, give signatures, and pose for photos starting at 3 p.m. April 22.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ranger Baldy and host him for a book reading, book signing, and meet and greet event,” said Anne Driscoll, owner of Branches Books & Gifts. “Celebrating the Earth while learning about our natural resources is going to be wonderful and informative for the entire community.”
Ranger Baldy’s “Disappearing Waterfall” was the inaugural title in the series, and named to Kirkus Reviews’ “Best Books of 2014” list as well as nominated for several other awards.
“Earth Day and National Park Week provide the perfect moment for the children of Oakhurst to meet Ranger Baldy and learn from him about the importance of enjoying and protecting Earth’s natural treasures,” said Stephen Zapotoczny, founder and CEO of The Magic Factory, publisher of the Ranger Baldy series. “We are grateful to Anne Driscoll and her team at Branches Books & Gifts for hosting this wonderful event on the doorstep of Yosemite National Park.”
The Ranger Baldy series combines paintings of animals and natural backgrounds with stories about Baldy finding his appreciation for the woods and nature.
