Kerman defeats Yosemite 71-65 to remain undefeated in NSL

The Yosemite High basketball team (19-9, 7-3 North Sequoia League) ended league play at Kerman (20-7, 10-0 NSL) Wednesday night with a 71-65 loss to the NSL champions.

The Badgers were up at half 36-32, and led at the end of the third quarter 53-49, but the Lions outscored Yosemite 22-12 in the crucial fourth quarter for the win.

Yosemite senior center Kade Cross scored 22 points shooting 64% from the floor (8 of 12), and had 9 rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals.

Junior Tristan Eames contributed 15 points, and seven assists - sophomore Cannon Eames 14 (four 3-pointers), and junior Peter McLean with 13 points, shooting 75% from the floor (6 of 8), with 11 rebounds.

High scorer for the game was Kerman junior David Rico with 24 points.

Maxpreps.com currently has Kerman ranked No. 5 in the Central Section D-IV division, and Yosemite at No. 5.

Immanuel (21-5) of Reedley is Ranked No. 1, followed by Granite Hills (25-2) of Porterville, Kennedy (19-8) of Delano, Madera South (16-11), Kerman (20-7), Rosamond (19-4), Coalinga (21-6), McFarland (21-6), Yosemite (19-9), and Taft (16-11).

Both teams will go to the D-IV Central Section playoffs, and are awaiting the seedings and playoff bracket (to see when and where they will play) which will be released Friday by the Central Section office.
