Hundreds crack down at crab feed

More than 400 left content with the 30th Annual Rotary Crab Feed last Saturday, where 1,750 pounds of the crustacean delight were cracked open for a succulent dining experience.

Hosted at the Oakhurst Community Center by the Oakhurst Sierra Rotary Club, there was all-you-can eat salad, pasta, bread, and dungeness crab, the latter cheered as it was first delivered by members of the Yosemite High School Interact and Key clubs.

“This is amazing,” said Jake Lopez, 13, visiting his first crab feed. “Like, really amazing. I didn’t expect it to be this good. I’ll definitely be back.”

“This is just a ton of fun,” added Christy Smith, a Rotary member. “It’s a very important event for us because it’s our biggest fundraiser, and everyone has a really good time.”

The event raises funds for the club’s many community projects.

Along with food, gifts valued at more than $10,000, donated by Mountain Area merchants, were raffled off to lucky ticket holders.
