North Fork Boy Scouts attend camporall event

Last month the Sequoia Council of Boy Scouts of America held a council-wide camporall at the council at Camp Chawanakee, Shaver Lake.

More than 600 Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, parents and leaders participated in the weekend event. Numerous competitive events were held, with events ranging from First Aid relay races, to compass/GPS courses, rifle shooting and Dutch Oven cooking.

Eleven Scouts from North Fork Troop 357 took part, with both troop patrols earning awards during the competition. Troop 357 took overall second place out of all the troops in attendance. North Fork Cub Scout Pack 357 participated in events geared for their younger age group, earning a number of awards in their competitive events, and taking first place overall for Cub Packs attending the event.

Boys ages 7 through 10 are eligible to be a Cub Scout. Boys ages 10 ½ and going into the sixty grade, or age 11-17 are eligible to be a Boy Scout.

Boys and parents interested in knowing more about the Scouting program are encouraged to come to the Scout Building, 6:30 p.m., Nov. 20.
