Yosemite National Park 125th anniversary celebration

October 1, 2015 marks the 125th Anniversary of the establishment of Yosemite National Park. The park will host a public celebration to honor this historic occasion.

Honorary 125th Anniversary Chairman, Ranger Gabriel Lavan-Ying, will join park Superintendent Don Neubacher, in leading the celebration, which will take place 11 a.m. to noon, Oct. 1, at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center.

The ceremony will include Yosemite’s famous Mounted Patrol, a sing-along with renowned musician Tom Bopp, a special guest appearance by John Muir (portrayed by Lee Stetson). Fourth grade students from throughout the Central Valley will receive free Yosemite National Park passes through the Every Kid in a Park program. A special 125th YNP anniversary time capsule will also be created.

The celebration will take place, rain or shine.
