Two-car wreck on Highway 41

A 16-year-old Oakhurst girl driving an SUV collided with a veteran in a white minivan on Highway 41 near the Highway 49 intersection Thursday, which sent the man to the hospital with chest pains though he is expected to recover, CHP officers said.

Rodger Gregerson from Ahwahnee, in a white Chrysler Town & Country minivan, was driving southbound on Highway 41 around 4:55 p.m. when the teenager pulled out of the Old Mill Village shopping center, looking to go north on the highway.

CHP officers on scene said the girl thought there was enough time to get out of the way, but apparently not as Gregerson’s vehicle slammed into her front end, which totaled both cars.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.

Gregerson was sent to the Veterans Affairs hospital in Fresno with chest pains, though a full recovery was expected. The girl suffered minor abrasions to her right arm from airbags, officers said.

Both Gregerson and the girl were driving alone, officers said. Traffic along Highway 41 was slowed for about 15 minutes as crews cleared the scene.
