With great sadness, Sheriff Varney announced Tuesday the passing of the Sheriff’s Office’s longest-serving employee.
Diana Rankin passed away at her home last Tuesday, Sept. 8. She had been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since February of 1975 and worked in a variety of capacities including as Jail Matron and Dispatcher. For the last 15 years, Rankin served the Mountain Area as a Sheriff’s Records Clerk.
“Diana’s calm demeanor, sharp mind, and institutional knowledge of CLETS and the Sheriff’s Office in general, will be missed,” Varney said.
There will be a celebration of Diana’s life at the Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park at 49777 High School Road in Oakhurst on Saturday, September 26 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. There will be a pot-luck meal, and an opportunity for people to speak about their memories of Diana.
