Jennifer Crystal Downing, 39 of Fresno, pleaded guilty Monday to first degree burglary at The Ahwahnee Hotel, U.S. Attorney Benjamin Wagner announced.
According to court documents, Downing entered rooms in the hotel and stole cash from its customers. The burglaries and thefts began in March last year, and continued through October. At the time, Downing was a housekeeper at the hotel.
The National Park Service investigated the case.
Downing is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Anthony W. Ishii on November 2, 2015. She faces a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the court’s discretion.
