With school back in session, the Oakhurst Area CHP will be at max enforcement this upcoming week of Aug. 17. Throughout the Oakhurst and Coarsegold areas, bus safety, speed (radar trailer deployment), seatbelts, stop sign, crosswalk safety, bicycle safety, student pick up and drop off, as well as all other violations which directly impact the safety of our schools zones and school goers will be monitored.
For those students and parents who are entering the world of teenage driving, the Oakhurst Area will hold a “Start Smart” presentation, 6 p.m., Aug. 27, in the CHP office conference room.
Start Smart is program designed to provide teens and their parents/guardians with an interactive safe driving awareness class which will illustrate how poor choices behind the wheel of a vehicle can affect the lives of numerous people. Start Smart also focuses on responsibilities on newly licensed drivers, responsibilities of parents/guardians and collision avoidance techniques.
